All,

I recently just accepted a offer in PWM and getting back into the forum. I would like to start off with my first post being about something meaningful that many of you can relate too. I haven't been able to to process much so I figured this is either a great community to share this with or the worst haha.

Four years ago I purchased my best friend. You don't normally purchase your best friend but in this instance I did. He was a 10 pound English Bulldog named Bentley. He was 10 pounds of pure joy. I got him right when I moved out of my parents house and started college. It was a stressful time in my life and Bentley made everything okay. We moved cities, got a girlfriend and did our best to live. After two years of bonding and figuring each other out we were great.

Year three I proposed to my girlfiend and bought a house. Things were amazing, He slept all day long being a bulldog and snores in the bed which to me was a sign of relief that my boy was comfy. A few months ago he started to slow down which is weird for a 4 year old English bulldog from a really clean genetic line. Then progressively he started walking around as if he was drunk and his front legs weren't moving. I took him to the vet which referred him to a MRI vet who took an MRI. The MRI came back with 3 large masses in the brain which was putting pressure on something causing the limbs to not function.

The tumors were cancerous too. When I got this news I immediately broke down because I knew it was the end. After a month being without my guy I am starting to feel happy again and now getting my offer for work I feel a lot better. It's hard to get over stuff like this.

Anyways, that's it. Heavy as shit. My personal story about one of the most important things I have lost.

A bulldog with a clean genetic line is a paradox. They are inbred to shit and are inherently unhealthy animals.
Sorry your bud is in bad shape, man. But I'd be grateful your biggest loss is an animal.

Not my biggest lost but something I built a very strong bond with. I have lost plenty in my life. I knew the health risks of English Bulldogs. 80% suffer from hip dysplasia Bentley didn't. That was my main concern and reason for putting clean genetic line. Both of his parents weren't inbred from as far back as they kept record which was over 20 years. Also, I am not measuring dicks when it comes to biggest losses in life. I am just sharing a personal story which I feel this forum lacks due to the type of people that hang out on here, it would be nice to change that. Thanks for your response though.

20 years is nothing. Nobody knows where they originally come from, but they are unhealthy in all types of ways. Their organs can barely support their bodies and their nasal passage can't support prolonged exertion, which animals need to be healthy. You really can't win with that breed. They're cursed to be fat, sick, and tired.

What you'd like to be reality is not necessarily reality. A grown man lying to himself is unfortunate.

Also, he should be grateful that the loss of an animal is such a big deal to him. People love their dogs, but it's nothing like the love you can feel for your children, wife, mother, and even friends. It is an animal with a lifespan 15% of ours. They barely understand what's going on. People anthropomorphise and like to think their dogs feel all this shit for them on a human level, but you're really projecting your own emotions. An octopus and a pig are more intelligent than a dog.

you are a complete idiot for the comparison of a dog to a pig or octopus. Maybe you should pull your head out of your arse and read up on the newest research about animal (in general) intelligence and feelings.

Nobody's denying reality except yourself. You lack tact, so you're being a dick and not some bringer of truth.

Lots of respect (and awe) to you for sharing this.
The bond between human and dog are unlike any other.

I always tell people that, if I was a hitman and assigned to take someone out but saw him with his dog, I wouldn't be able to follow through. Not because I particularly care about the human (overpopuation is a problem), but I'd fear no one would take care of the dog and/or it will feel neglected.

Do you have kids?

I'm more curious as to when this hitman topic comes up in conversations that you always tell people this..

Sorry for your loss dude... I lost my first dog when I was still single, years ago, when he was only 3 years old. It's a tough time at first but you'll get through it. Took a few years but just recently got our second and I sometimes accidentally call him by the name of my first dog. But all in all glad that we took on a new one.

Also, am I reading your post right, you got engaged and bought a house as a junior in college? I'm no one to tell you how to live your life, but the most change people go through tend to be those first few years after college. So I would put the brakes on a little with any more irreversible major life choices till you get a little older.

OP have you considered having kids? I'll be a surrogate mother if needed

12/8/17

Still to young I'm only 22. Thank you for the offer my mating partner is a dime so hopefully she can not make my kids look like me.

Sorry for your loss man. I also have an English bulldog, Beaufort. He is 4.5 years old and I have been very lucky in that to date, we haven't really had too many health issues knocks on wood. I would be equally devastated if my guy passed in the same manner yours did. Take your time to mourn then get another one. I'm definitely in the camp that believes a dog is a mans best friend and that they provide happiness and are stress reducers, etc

My German Shephard went to the old farm upstate too. She ended up becoming extremely attached to me once she got bigger. It's easy to love a puppy. But she was 80 pounds of joy and would sprint circles around the yard when I came home from school. Extremely obedient and loyal too. Had her for eight years but when I moved I couldn't take her with me. She was sent back the breeder she came from in Florida. I got a couple of pictures of her and unfortunately, she developed hip problems shortly after. She has put down shortly after. Dogs make excellent companions, especially for caring masters. I feel your pain bud I really do.

I'm saddened by your dog. I wouldn't know too what to do when it will happen to my Shih Tzu. On one hand, I'm happy for you because you have accepted an offer. I hope all will be better for you soon.

12/11/17

Sorry about your dog man......just wait until you start losing close family members....it's going to make your dog's loss feel like Christmas in relative comparison...

12/12/17

Hope everything goes well, I lost my best bud to a speeding car and went through a really hard time, so I can understand what you're going through.
